... can this be the first day of school already?

So, who do you think looks forward more to the first day of school?

Kids ...
parents ...
grandparents ...

Riding the bus was a must for husband. Living over 25 miles from school made it very difficult to get to school any other way.

It took over 1 hour each way. He did not have the 'mom or dad' taxi option that many kids have access to today. After school activities ... were the ones that happened in his own backyard.

Yeah ... yeah ... yeah ... when husband went to school, so very, very, very, very, very long ago he had to walk up the hill both ways. (Just an old expression for those of you too young to understand.)

Living in the same community as the school is a blessing. Both Kid1 and Kid2 attend Hanahan Elementary. What an awesome school. The teachers are caring, loving, and encourage learning at multiple levels of interaction. Miss Julie, the Bus Driver, is so sweet. She is a very jolly person who has a heart for kids as well. The kids love to ride the bus and be with their friends. Oh, how long will this last?

Hard to believe that the summer is over and the first day of school is here. One of husband's fave memories was in first grade, sitting in story time and listening to his teacher, Miss Hasselton read to him.

I'm glad school is in session. At least I can get a couple hours to myself. Love the kids, but sometimes a little quiet can go a long way.
