... what's your favorite shape?

Kid2 and husband (papa) were having 'share time' while coloring. It was one of those happy moments when life is at its best. No cares ... no worries ... the sun is shining ... your belly is full ... no pressures. Papa and the orange crayon were having a great time staying in between the lines. Casual chitchat consisted of Kid2 asking what was papa's favorite color, or did papa used to do this when he was a kid?

Then, without warning and completely out of the blue (no pun intended to the indigo Crayola), Kid2 puts her crayon down gently, places her elbows on the table and head on her hands. She looks up with those big, brown puppy-dog eyes that make you want to melt like wax and asked, "Papa, what is your favorite shape?" (The question sort of caught papa off guard.) The mind was racing wildly trying to decide what to say next. What if this was a test? Papa did not want to blow it.

Taking a deep breath and speaking very carefully came papa's reply, "My favorite shape is ... a heart. And, that's because papa loves you so very, very much." Okay sounded good, believable – not bad for quick thinking. “Did papa get it right?” he wondered. Kid2 smiled and looked attentively like there was supposed to be more to the answer. Papa gulped and caught the glimpse of a single bead of sweat as it trickled down his cheek. He couldn't stand it any longer so, with great courage knowing that he was in uncharted waters, these words went floating through the air, "And, what's yours, honey?"

Without so much as a blink of the eye, Kid2 stood straight and tall with her arms outstretched, hands folded together, a slight tilt to her head, and gently swinging herself side-to-side, Kid2 proudly said, "Diamonds. (tee-hee, tee-hee) Nana taught me to say that." At that very instant, papa got a good picture of the real shape he was going to be in. Yes, the training had already begun.

Please share your favorite shape whether it’s hearts, diamonds, or something else. And, as usual living life in the hallway can be ... let's just say ... very colorful.

Hmmm...I've never thought of a "favorite shape". Favorite color, favorite food, favorite pair of shoes maybe...but a shape? I guess it would be an Octagon. Why? I have no idea. Because it's unique, I guess.

Never really thought of a favorite shape myself. I would have been stumped - fast thinking on your feet - have more reading to go back on !

The hallway fav color is green. Son is fond of blue; daughter likes orange; fanny loves purple; and fuzzball ... well ... of course ... it's white.

Favorite shape has to be a circle. . .it has no beginning and no end. I think about that every time I look at my wedding ring.
